As the song says, “there’s no place like home for the holidays”, so help your new homeowner friends out with a few useful gifts. We here at Intellipure have put together a few of our favorite gifts that made a difference to the new home ownership experience. Whether it is a house, condo, or townhouse these gifts will surely make your special person feel right at home.
Tool Kit
Every homeowner needs a basic tool kit. Having at least a screwdriver with interchangeable bits, hammer, pliers, and a measuring tape makes a huge difference when the time comes for home repairs. Extras like a socket set and wrenches are even better. Look for a tool kit with a carrying case that holds each tool individually. This helps quickly identify if a tool is missing.
Smart Thermostat
A great way to tame energy bills is a smart thermostat. For years digital thermostats have allowed for programming temperatures during the day, but a smart thermostat takes things even further. Some units have multiple sensors that can take temperature measurements across an entire house. There are units that can learn your routine and tweak settings for both comfort and energy efficiency. You can even tie a smart thermostat into a whole smart home system.
Air Purifier
Did you know it can take almost two years for certain new materials to stop releasing harmful chemicals into the air? For example things like new carpet, insulation, glue, particleboard, plywood, medium density fiberboard, nail polish, wallpaper, paint are known to be sources of formaldehyde. Construction also creates a massive number of dust particles that settle in cracks and crevices that can become dislodged over time. These tiny harmful particles need to be removed from the air before they cause health problems. An Intellipure Compact air purifier is perfect for spaces up to 500 square feet while the Ultrafine 468 air purifier can clean spaces up to 1,200 square feet. For best results, use an Ultrafine 468 in a main room with Compact units in smaller rooms (like bedrooms). Both air purifiers feature an advanced VOC filter that removes harmful chemicals and bad smells.
Cordless Drill
There are times when a homeowner needs to drill holes in things, and when that time comes not being tethered to a cord makes things so much easier. Or when a lot of screws need to be installed. A cordless drill can make quick work of even the most complicated Swedish flat-packed furniture. While 18V drills are plentiful, even a 12V drill can handle most jobs.
Microfiber Towels
Most people already have bath and kitchen towels, but a few utility towels are great to have around. In particular, microfiber towels are great for using around the house when the job calls for something a bit tougher than a paper towel, but not as nice as your bath towel. Whether it is cleaning up a floor spill, wiping down kitchen counters, or even washing the car a few utility towels are great to have on hand. Plus they are reusable so just throw them in the wash.
Work Gloves
When working around the house there are times when a good pair of work gloves are the right tool. Doing yard work, cleaning up a mess, maintaining the car, or just working with materials that are hard on the skin, having a pair of work gloves makes a big difference in how your hands feel the next day. There are work gloves with padded areas to prevent bruising, heat resistant gloves to protect from burns, and of course rubber gloves to keep chemicals away from skin. In a pinch work gloves can even offer a little cold weather protection.
When it comes to gift giving, leave the fruit cake at home and pick something that helps improve your new homeowner’s lives in their new space.
